Peachies Learn From Community Helper, Mechanic, And Learn Value Of Responsibility

Hello Peach parents!

Welcome to the beginning of May!

I hope you guys all enjoyed the fun events from last week (Disney Dress Up and the Critter Squad) and all the photos that were taken! I know the Peaches LOVED it all!

The two weeks ahead of us will have a handful of fun events!

– Star Wars Day (May 4th) – Dress up as your favorite Star Wars character!

– Date Night with Ms. Diana & Ms. Lorraine (May 5th) – Go out and celebrate Cinco de Mayo while your favorite teachers take care of your little ones!

– A Cinco de Mayo celebration (May 7th) – Gabriel will be bringing in a piñata for the school.

– A practice emergency drill (May 8th) – Our previous emergency drill was postponed and will now occur on this date.

– Moms & Muffins (May 11th) – Moms come in and spend the morning with your Peach, while enjoying some coffee and muffins! Let me know if you would like to volunteer to read a book to the class during this time!

– Travel Town Family Outing (May 12th) – We encourage families to go out and meet up with other PLAY families at Travel Town at 10am! Travel Town was chosen because it aligns with our monthly theme of transportation.

Curriculum

Theme: Transportation

Value: Responsibility

Color: Black

Multicultural Visit: Mexico

Animal: Reptiles

Community Helper: Mechanic

Additional Theme: Moms

Letters/Sounds: V & X

Shape: Review

Numbers: Review

As in every preschool classroom, these plans may evolve to better suit the interests of the children. I will be updating parents with pictures, videos, and write ups of what the children are learning and doing during the day. These will be posted to Brightwheel.

As stated above, over the month of May I will be teaching your kids about transportation, responsibility, mechanics, reptiles, Mexico, Mother’s Day, the color black, the letters “V” and “X”, and finally a review of shapes and numbers. I will also be incorporating our previous monthly letters when appropriate.

Over the course of the next two weeks we will be doing a couple surprise activities to prepare for Mother’s Day. We will also be learning the letter “X” and all about Mexico.

Some of the activities you can look forward to seeing and hearing about are…

– Mother’s Day Surprises!

I won’t tell you what we will be doing, but you’ll get to see it all on Friday the 11th (or Thursday the 10th if you only come on Tuesdays and Thursdays)!

– The letter X!

We will learn what it looks like, the sound it makes, and sound out words that begin with “X” or have “x” in it.

– Mexico!

We will locate Mexico on a map, learn to recognize the Mexican flag, & explore some of the country’s culture.

Reminders

If your child has a birthday this month feel free to come celebrate with us!!

– We celebrate during our lunchtime around 11:15

– If you’re bringing a treat, we ask that it not include frosting, as it is just before our nap time.

– Please be aware of allergies – NO nuts!

– Just give us a heads up!

Be aware of your child’s cubby!

– Please keep it stocked! (Shirts, shorts, pants, jackets, diapers, underwear, etc.) You never know when an accident is going to happen!

– I also graciously ask that you bring in a container of baby wipes (yes, even if your child is potty trained!). I have found that on new playground the children constantly get extremely dirty and the easiest way to remove the dirt is a baby wipe. I hate sending your children home full of filth, so please help me clean them!

– If you plan on parking in our lot, we ask that you please limit your stay to 10 minutes. Lingering in the lot makes it difficult for other parents trying to pick up their child on time.

– I know saying goodbye can be hard, but you can do it and so can your kid!! Remember to keep a consistent routine throughout the year, prepare your child for your departure, validate their feelings, and remind them that you will be back.

– Hot lunch will continue to be $5 when ordered in advance, however if ordered the day of or by the week it will be billed at $6.

– Show and Tell is every Friday! Encourage your child to bring in a special toy of their choice to share with the class. Show & Tell is great because it’s fun for the kids and simultaneously enhances effective communication, strengthens their vocabulary , improves their listening skills, and promotes self confidence.

– Date Night is every other Saturday from 5:00pm-12:00am. $15/hr for an individual child or $20/hr for a pair of siblings (min. charge is $60). Dinner and a movie are also provided.

– We are now NUT FREE! We have a number of students in the school allergic to peanuts and tree nuts, in order to keep them safe we ask that you please do not send your child to school with any products containing nuts. If you would like a list of nut-free food suggestions let me know and I will get you a list!

– And lastly, a personal request from myself, please try to label all of your child’s items! Many families buy the same things and sometimes other students or teachers may move your child’s items mistakenly; labeling your things will greatly help avoid any mishaps!

If you have any other questions about the parent handbook feel free to ask myself, Gabriel, or Ms. Annie.

Community Helper: Chef

Additional Theme: Plant Life Cycle (fruit, vegetable, flower)

Shape: Rectangle

Numbers: 11 & 12

As in every preschool classroom, these plans may evolve to better suit the interests of the children. I will be updating parents with pictures, videos, and write ups of what the children are learning and doing during the day. These will be posted to Brightwheel.

Since this a class designed for two and three year olds, many of the learning activities we will be doing will involve reading stories, singing songs, creating simple art projects, and having light discussions in order to keep the kids engaged and having fun.  This is a class for them to expand their minds and grow as both individuals and intellectuals, while also feeling free to be themselves.

As stated above, over the month of February I will be teaching your kids about the environment, respecting nature, chefs, dinosaurs, Ireland, St. Patrick’s Day, rectangles, the color green, the numbers 11 & 12, and finally the letters “E”, “O”, and “U”. I will also be incorporating our previous monthly letters, shapes, and numbers when appropriate.

The activities I have planned for this week will focus on dinosaurs and chefs, as well as finishing up our theme of respecting nature and the environment.

Some of the activities you can look forward to seeing and hearing about are…

– Transferring our sprouted seeds into a planter

The kids have been eagerly watching their seeds grow – forming stalks and roots right before their eyes. They will gently transfer their little plants into a pot where they will add soil and water for further growth.

– Learning all about the existence of dinosaurs

We will have a discussion about dinosaurs where the kids will learn that dinosaurs once walked on the same ground that we live on! They will learn the meaning of the word dinosaur, as well as what it means to be extinct and what a fossil is.

– The letter E!

We will learn what it looks like, the sound it makes, and sound out many words that begin with “E”

– What is a chef?

The kids will learn what a chef is and brainstorm all the meals a chef can make. We will then review some healthy foods and become chefs ourselves, because we’re making SMOOTHIES!

Valentine’s Day, Love, and the Chinese New Year

Hello Peach parents!

Welcome to the month of February! Thank you to those of you that came to Parent Teacher Conferences last week. I hope to have answered all your questions and plan to fulfill all of your goals for your little ones! If you missed them, not to worry, I am always available via Brightwheel and am open to chatting anytime you see me on the playground!

For the rest of the school year you should be receiving biweekly emails, such as this one, that will give you some insight on what we will be learning in class.

Throughout the month of February I plan on enriching your children with meaningful memories and experiences where they will come to love their new school (if they don’t already!). I will do my best to incorporate all of our monthly themes in depth, however many of the things we do are based off of their interest level and engagement in a particular subject. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Shape: Rectangle

Numbers: 9 & 10

As in every preschool classroom, these plans may evolve to better suit the interests of the children. I will be updating parents with pictures, videos, and write ups of what the children are learning and doing during the day. These will be posted to Brightwheel.

Since this a class designed for two and three year olds, many of the learning activities we will be doing will involve reading stories, singing songs, creating simple art projects, and having light discussions in order to keep the kids engaged and having fun.  This is a class for them to expand their minds and grow as both individuals and intellectuals, while also feeling free to be themselves.

As stated above, over the month of February I will be teaching your kids about love, friendship, doctors, farm animals, China & Asia, the Lunar New Year, President’s Day, rectangles, the colors pink & purple, the numbers 9 & 10, and finally the letters “G”, “W”, and “A”. I will also be incorporating our previous monthly letters, shapes, and numbers when appropriate.

The activities I have planned for the following weeks will mainly focus on farm animals and the letters “G” and “W”  in the first week, and then Valentine’s Day, love, and the Chinese New Year in the second week.

Some of the activities you can look forward to seeing and hearing about are…

– Learning a variety of farm animals and the sounds they make.

– Learning what different farm animals may provide for us (such as milk or wool).

– A fine motor activity that simulates milking a cow.

– A special Valentine’s Day card made just for you!

– Learning what the Chinese New Year is

– & much more!

Highlights from Back to School Orientation

Just to recap on some of the information I went over at Back to School Orientation…

$15/hr for an individual child or $17/hr for a pair of siblings (min. charge is $60).

Annie.
